Fairbrother Selected to Re-brand The Payn Home

The Board of Directors of the Louis F. Payn Foundation has selected Fairbrother & Company to create a new branded image, web site and marketing campaign for its retirement residence in Chatham, New York. Known as "The Payn Home" by area residents for more than 80 years, the facility occupies its original site, a handsome, ivy-covered brick building constructed in 1929 on Coleman Street. The Payn Home remains the realization of a philanthropist's dream. Louis F. Payn, a leading citizen of both Chatham and the country in the early part of the century, endowed a foundation in his own name to maintain a gracious haven for older members of the local community. Fairbrother will create a new brand fior the home, as well as an interactive web site, ad campaign and collateral materials.

Fairbrother Joins Habitat Board

Fairbrother & Company president James A. Fairbrother has been named to the Board of Directors of the Columbia County Habitat for Humanity. CCHFH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity International seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity builds and renovates houses in partnership with volunteers and families in need, regardless of their ethnic or religious background. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged. Fairbrother continues to serve on the board of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce and the Hudson Opera House. In addition, the firm regularly does pro bono work to support non-profit and community organizations that need marketing, branding and public relations assistance.

Fairbrother Launches “Totally Free Berkshires”: Students and Families Invited to Say “no drinking, no drugs, no way”

Early in 2009 the Pittsfield Prevention Partnership (PPP) selected Fairbrother & Company to develop a new outreach campaign for youth of the Berkshires. Fairbrother launched the new multi-media campaign, “Totally Free Berkshires: No Drinking, No Drugs, No Way”, at an event in May that was attended by hundreds of kids, their parents and community leaders. Local youth participated in and are featured in the campaign commissioned by the PPP, which aims to promote healthy behaviors and attitudes regarding alcohol and drug use. The campaign, created by Fairbrother & Company will be visible from June through October 2009 on billboards, cable television, and an interactive website that will also be launched during the event, where youth can blog about their experiences. The campaign can be viewed on the organization's web site, www.totallyfreeberkshires.org. The Pittsfield Prevention Partnership is a grassroots coalition of community agencies and leaders that aims to reduce and prevent youth substance abuse. The PPP meets on the first Thursday of every month at 9:00 a.m. at the Catholic Youth Center on Melville Street. All are welcome to attend. Fairbrother Selected by New York State Library to Promote Summer Reading Promotion Program

Fairbrother & Company has been selected by the New York State Pubic Library to promote the New York Statewide Summer Reading Program. The five-year $250,000 contract covering media promotion and public relations activities was announced today by the firm's president James Fairbrother. The annual free program is offered in more than 1,100 public libraries, branch libraries and reading centers throughout the state. “We are delighted to help promote such a worthy initiative,” said Fairbrother. “Our work in publishing, in the education field, and for the ’National Endowment for the Arts‘ ‘The Big Read’ program makes our team ideally suited to the task of promoting reading, but this is also a program we believe can have a significant impact on young people across New York State. That makes this assignment an extraordinary opportunity and very rewarding as well.“The New York State Library's 2009 Statewide Summer Reading program will be implemented in libraries across the state, and varies from library to library. Results are most often measured in number of books read or time spent reading, and each library typically establishes a reward system for participating students. New York State partners with 44 other states as part of the national Collaborative Summer Library Program to share best practices and ideas for program goals, activities and themes.

Fairbrother Takes Silver for FM Brand Identity in National Marketing Competition

In the 24th Annual Advertising Awards conducted by Admissions Marketing Report, the marketing communications firm Fairbrother & Company won honors for its branding and design work for Fulton-Montgomery Community College. Fairbrother was awarded the Silver Award in the Logo/Letterhead category for “FM Brand Identity”.?Fairbrother's FM entries competed in the category for “Schools with 2,000 to 4,999 Students”, pitting their creative work against entries from across the country, and several foreign countries.The Admissions Advertising Awards is the largest educational advertising awards competition in the country. This year, more than two thousand entries were submitted from more than a thousand colleges, universities and secondary schools from all fifty states and several foreign countries. The agency also garnered a Merit Award for their Annual Report for Fulton-Montgomery Community College. In the past ten years, Fairbrother has won multiple honors in each year for its work in the education marketing field.

Fairbrother Awarded Five Top Awards in National Competition

In the 23rd Annual Advertising Awards conducted by Admissions Marketing Report, the National Newspaper of Admissions Marketing, Fairbrother & Company won top national honors for its advertising campaigns for The Albany Academies. For the fifth consecutive year the marketing communications firm won one of two top wards for Total Advertising Campaign. Fairbrother also won two Gold Awards for work in newspaper and direct mail advertising in support of the Albany Academies. In addition the firm was recognized with two silver awards, one for newspaper advertising campaign, and one for outdoor advertising.

FMCC Taps Fairbrother for Research, Branding and Marketing Program

The Chatham-based marketing firm of Fairbrother & Company has been retained by Fulton-Montgomery Community College to develop a research and branding strategy.

Fairbrother was selected over competing agencies to develop a new brand for the college, which is a two-year college of the State University of New York system. The firm will develop research strategies and tactics, a brand strategy, and a new brand which will be communicated through web site, advertising, viewbooks and other marketing communications materials. Fairbrother will also create a marketing plan for the college.

Fairbrother has branded many leading educational institutions, including Adelphi University and Hudson valley Community College.

Since 1964 Fulton-Montgomery Community College, a two-year college of the State University of New York system, has been serving students of the region with quality education programs at low cost. Located between Johnstown and Amsterdam in the foothills of the Adirondacks, the 194-acre campus features five buildings, a 52,000-volume library and athletic fields, affording students all the resources needed for a first-class college education.

Fairbrother Selected by Kinderhook Bank as Branding and Marketing Agency

The Chatham-based marketing firm of Fairbrother & Company has been retained by the National Union Bank of Kinderhook as a full-service branding and marketing communications consultants.

Fairbrother was selected over competing agencies to develop branding and marketing strategies, as well as an integrated marketing communications program to include advertising, media planning and placement, retail displays, creative, design and production services, and public relations. The firm will also develop strategies to launch the bank??s newest branch currently under construction in East Greenbush, N.Y. Previously the agency had worked with the Kinderhook Bank to design the bank??s web site. The current contract expands the relationship to all aspects of branding and marketing communications activities.

Fairbrother has worked for global, national, and regional banks, credit unions, investment and wealth management firms, insurance companies, mutual funds and hedge fund firms, including local and regional firms such as First New York FCU, SEFCU, Evergreen Bank and Greylock Federal Credit Union.

Established in 1853, National Union Bank of Kinderhook operates four full-service offices in Kinderhook, Valatie, Chatham and Greenport, with its fifth branch slated for opening in 2007.

Fairbrother Awarded Five Top Awards in National Competition

In the 22nd Annual Advertising Awards conducted by Admissions Marketing Report, the National Newspaper of Admissions Marketing, Fairbrother & Company won top national honors for its advertising campaigns for The Albany Academies and Hudson Valley Community College. For the fourth consecutive year the marketing communications firm won the Gold Award for Total Advertising Campaign and also won this year for Best Total Public Relations Program. Fairbrother also racked up two other Gold Awards for work in newspaper advertising and poster design in support of “Why Melville Matters Now”, a trans-disciplinary celebration of Albany Academy alumnus Herman Melville, held at the Albany Academy in November. Fairbrother also was won the Gold Award for best television advertising for “Home Study”, a spot promoting distance learning for Hudson Valley Community College. In addition the firm was recognized with two silver awards, one bronze award, and one merit award for its work for The Albany Academies.

Fairbrother was selected over competing agencies to develop a new brand identity for the 25-year-old firm, as well as a system of branded corporate and sales materials and a comprehensive Web site. Fairbrother Wins National Radio Advertising Award—
The Silver Microphone

For the second consecutive year Fairbrother & Company has been named a 2005 National Winner in the Silver Microphone Awards competition for its radio advertising campaign for Hudson Valley Community College. Fairbrother also took home a total of eight other Silver Microphone Awards in the 21st annual competition designed to select the best radio commercials created by advertising agencies, audio production companies and radio stations in the United States.

Fairbrother’s winning campaign comprises four commercials, “Fo’Shizzle,” “Meeting Dad,” ”Lemonade,” and “Cisco Kid,” which promote the college programs at Hudson Valley. The winning commercials were written and directed by agency president and creative director,
Jim Fairbrother. Fairbrother’s entry was named National Winner for Best Commercial Campaign in the Institutional/Professional category. Fairbrother was also named a National Finalist twice in the Institutional/Professional category for Best Single Spot, a National Finalist four times in the “Best Copywriting” category, and a National Finalist twice in the “Best Use of Humor” category. The Silver Microphone Award competition was open to more than 40,000 ad agencies, production studios and radio stations in the country.

Fairbrother Named Finalist in AMA's Mark of Excellence Awards

The American Marketing Association has named Fairbrother & Company a Finalist in its 11th Annual Mark of Excellence Awards competition. The Mark of Excellence Awards—the region's premier event celebrating the marketing profession—has recognized Fairbrother as marketing partner to Hudson Valley Community College. The agency's campaign for Hudson Valley, "Directions for Life," has achieved record-breaking results for the college. Unlike many marketing award programs, the Mark of Excellence is based on both creativity and demonstrated results.

Fairbrother Awarded “Best of Show” in National Competition

In the 20th Annual Advertising Awards conducted by Admissions Marketing Report, the National Newspaper of Admissions Marketing, Fairbrother & Company won top national honors for its advertising campaign for Hudson Valley Community College.

For the third consecutive year, the marketing communications firm based in Chatham, New York, won the Gold Award for “Total Advertising Campaign,” which included print, outdoor, television and radio advertising for Hudson Valley. This year, the agency was also recognized with “Best of Show” honors. The campaign, entitled “Directions for Life,” promotes the college’s success in helping students save tuition dollars by spending two years at Hudson Valley before transferring to four-year degree programs at other private and public colleges. The Best of Show citation states that the campaign, "exhibited the highest production standards, creativity and professionalism. (It) captured the attention and admiration of our panel of judges."

Fairbrother also was won Gold Awards for Radio Advertising Campaign and Single Spot, and was recognized with other awards in the categories of Newspaper and Magazine Ads, Outdoor, Student Viewbook, Newsletter and TV.

Fairbrother Lands Branding Assignments for Two Investment Firms


Fairbrother & Company will re-brand two investment firms, one which is among the oldest banking institutions in the United Sates and another that’s just over a year old.

The marketing communications firm has been hired to re-brand the investment and wealth management firm of Laidlaw & Company, which traces its heritage to 1842. Laidlaw was the second investment banking firm established in the country, and today operates globally with offices in London, New York and San Francisco, among other locations. Fairbrother’s responsibilities will include a global corporate branding strategy, logo, brochures and a comprehensive Web site for the firm.

Fairbrother also was engaged to create a corporate branding system for The Solaris Group of New York, including Web site and collateral materials design. An investment and wealth management firm, The Solaris Group was founded in 2004.

Fairbrother Re-Brands Regional Credit Union

Fairbrother & Company has completed a branding assignment for a credit union founded in the 1930s in Schenectady, New York, that has expanded its charter to serve the greater Capital Region. First Teachers Federal Credit Union has been renamed and given an overall corporate branding as First New York Federal Credit Union. After a successful application for a “Community Charter,” the federal credit union hired Fairbrother to develop a brand that would have appeal to anyone who lives or works, attends school or worships in the five county area served by the credit union.

Fairbrother’s responsibilities include naming and brand development, logo design, print, outdoor and television advertising, direct mail and collateral material design.

Nation's Top Advertising Award Goes to Fairbrother

In the 20th Annual Silver Microphone Awards competition, Fairbrother & Company was a 2004 National Winner for its advertising campaign for Hudson Valley Community College. The competition is designed to select the best radio commercials created by advertising agencies, audio production companies and radio stations in the United States.

The campaign — comprised of three spots, “Air Guitar, ”Lottery,” and “Hollywood,” and written and produced by agency president and creative director, Jim Fairbrother — was named National Winner in the Institutional/Professional category. The only National Winner or National Finalist from the state of New York, Fairbrother was also named a National Finalist in two other categories: Best Copywriting and Best Use of Humor. In the Best Copywriting category, Fairbrother was also named “Runner-Up,” which is equivalent to second place in that category.

The Silver Microphone Award competition was open to more than 40,000 ad agencies, production studios and radio stations in the country.
